Ayrshire North holds a substantial collection of archive material. Registration certificates, photographs, correspondence, log books and memorabilia. We are in the process of cataloguing and digitising the collection and arranging storage so that it is preserved correctly and can be a valuable record of the history of the County.
Now is a good time if you would like to donate items to the collection. It must pertain to County. eg. we would not take old handbooks, proficiency badges, old Guide or Brownie albums, old uniforms (although Scottish Archives would welcome pre 1935 uniforms). Unfortunately, we can not accept company colours. Please get in touch with us if you have something that may be interesting and do spread the word to anyone you know who may have items stored in their house.
Girls develop their creativity in all sorts of ways. One day they might be a storyteller, an artist or inventor, another day a designer or presenter. Our Express Myself theme gives girls space to explore their creativity and think differently. Through the theme’s badges and activities, they’ll makeup stories, think up inventions, solve problems and share their skills with friends.

The girls at 2nd Bourtreehill Guides have been working on the new skill builders and UMA’s, even trying a mixology party where the patrol came over and made lots of mocktails. The girls have completed Be Well stage 4, First Aid stage 4, Influence Stage 4, and are working on Lead stage 4 and First aid stage 4. “The design a bag night was a hit, the girls designed their new bags so they could use them to bring their folders to guides. They used a new medium in Acrylic spray paint and Acrylic metallic markers which were good to use but a bit messy. The tables were well covered but the seats, the girls and the floor not so! The girls had great fun and really enjoyed this activity and their bags were all unique.”

Our new indoor education building at Blair Activity Centre needs a name and you can cast your vote now. We had open events in autumn and attendees were able to submit their ideas. The management committee has whittled those ideas down to four finalists – Badger Hall; Hoolity Ha’; Oor Cabana; Trefoil Towers.

I am sending a similar email to kid’s clubs and groups all over Ayrshire to try and spread the word about my Charity Event. I’m not a big company or corporation, I’m just me and I’m hoping to get the help of local groups to help me spread the word about my charity event, as quite simply the more tickets I sell, the more money will be donated to charity.

I created Team Symington to raise money for The Beatson Cancer Charity and The Ayrshire Hospice in memory of my Dad, Ian Symington. I host 1 event a year and this year’s event is a Charity Ice Disco – It will take place on the 20th July and tickets will go on sale on the 20th April.

Tickets can be purchased from the above links and you can find out more at the above links. It’s sure to be a fun night and is suitable for the whole family!
