The 1st Castlepark Rainbow Unit raised a massive £755.71 on Friday evening which will help the unit buy resources, go on trips, and reach out to other girls in the community.

The Race Night was organised by Leaders and helpers of the unit: Briony Ramsay, Olivia Morgan, Stephanie Sharp, Melissa Galloway, and Lynn Wilson. They also recruited the help of local entertainer Gary Copeland (Quizmaster Gary on Facebook), with ANM Barbers, Vanilla Joes’, The Gulab, Marco’s Chip Shop, and Simpsinns also volunteering their time or prizes for the event.

The money was raised through ticket sales, a raffle, and £1 bets per horse, per race. The final race involved auctioning off the 8 horses, with the winning horse’s owner going away with £70 plus a £15 Gulab voucher.

Briony, a Leader at Castlepark Rainbows, said: “the night was a great success! My team and I are overwhelmed by the support we received. We can now look forward to taking the funds back to the unit and growing the unit so more girls can come and join in the fun, enjoy new experiences and learn new skills!”
