On Wednesday 9 March 2016 2nd Beith Brownies and 2nd Beith Guides had an exciting visit to the Fire Station in Beith.   Over 30 girls were welcomed by Robbie Allan, Watch Manager, Joe Livingstone the Crew Manager and 8 retained firemen.  In groups the girls saw the Firemen do a drill using breathing apparatus to rescue someone from a third storey building.  Another piece of equipment which was demonstrated was an airbag which can lift 40 tonnes – which is the weight of three fire engines one on top of the other.   The girls then had the chance to sit in the Fire Engine and even got to use the water hoses.

As part of the girls Fire Safety badge, they learned about fire prevention and fire safety in their own homes, the essential role of smoke detectors in their house and what to do in the event of a fire.  Thank you to all who helped make this visit a very informative and educational experience for the girls.
