Girlguiding leaders met for a night of fun activities on Thursday 15 September at Ayrshire North’s Annual General Meeting in Ardrossan.

Members of The Senior Section group who had attended August’s “Catch Us In Cologne!” event took charge of the evening’s activities, teaching the leaders what they had learned on the continent. From making balloon animals to singing songs, it’s safe to say even the most experienced leaders learned something new!

After 45 minutes of festivities for the almost 100 leaders, helpers, and guests in attendance, County Commissioner Helen Shedden led the awards ceremony to honour the leaders who had reached significant milestones in their Guiding careers. Sue Walker, Scottish Chief Commissioner, who was in attendance also helped present the long service awards. Three members of Ayrshire North received an award for a spectacular 40 years of service: Marion Ayre of 1st Galston Brownies; Elizabeth Higton of 1st Valley Senior Section; and Maureen Porter of 1st Dalry Rainbows.

Marion said she was “delighted to receive the award and to be with friends.”

A massive thank you goes to all who made the trip to Ardrossan to attend including guests from South West Region Scouts, and George English and Bryce Weir from the Kilmarnock Rotary Club.
